Atlanta
Every time we think the Bush Administration has killed irony off for good, they come along and stick another spear into the corpse.
Protesters try to greet Bush in Atlanta
They actually tried to break out of their "Designated Free Speech Zone" and get closer to where (I swear this is true) Bush was going to lay a wreath on the grave of Martin Luther King. How dare they? How dare they take the birthday of Dr. King and turn it into a..a nonviolent protest? How dare anyone chant or sing or wave signs and try to remember MLK the way they think he should be remembered?
Don't they realize that King's grave is now suitable only for a cheap photo-op? A chance for Smirkin' Whistle-Ass to show his deep deep concern for the African-American community by spending three minutes laying a wreath, totally oblivious to the (here's where I would say irony if it weren't already dead), then getting on a plane and whizzing off to the next $2,000 fundraiser.
If Dr. King were alive today, would Bush go two seconds out of his way to listen to him?

Well he didn't learn about "black people" at Yale, the way Howard "eeeyaahh" Dean did. How many African Americans ever worked on Howard Deans cabinet in his many years as Vermont governor? Oh yeah..ZIP!

Hey Rudeolfo, how many African Americans are in Vermont? I would imagine his cabinet was a representation of the people he worked for (the state of Vermont).

What Sooz said. And, if Dean HAD found and recruited one of the 6 African-Americans in VT to serve, he'd probably get criticized for promoting affirmative action, which the Right hates so much.

What kind of argument is that? I guess it's a shortcut to actually thinking. There is no excuse for not hiring one Africa American in over ten years, Are we to believe in that time no qualified African American applicants from inside, or outside of, Vermont made an attempt to work for Dean? This is incredulous. If this were Bush or Kerry, you hypocrites would be screaming blue murder, but for Dean you default to being lame, self deceptive apologists. Show integrity and call him on it the way Dean calls Kerry on his hypocrisy with lobbyist dollars. Dean supporters are reminding Me of Bob Roberts fantatical devotees.

I have no idea how many minority candidates Dean interviewed, Rudolfo - why don't you tell me? And then tell me how Bush laying a wreath on King's grave, as he seeks to unravel affirmative action and limit public protest, is anything but tacky at best.
